A library is the heart of an educational institution. It is the hub of academic activities of the college, i.e., a trinity of the library staff, reading materials and the readers. Patidarrang College library was established simultaneously with the parent organization, Patidarrang College in 1989.
The library has over 15000 Text books and reference books along with 2 journals and 6 magazines. The library with its open access system and spacious reading area provides a good reading environment. The library takes initiatives to nurturing reading habit. Students are always encouraged to do the optimum utilization of library resources. Considering the fact that majority of the users belong to the economically poor families the library takes extra care of them. A well-planned wall magazine “Granthakuti” is prepared by the library users. To promote reading habit among the users library has introduced the “Best Readers Award” which is distributed in the Librarians’ Day.
The library is partially automated with the Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) SOUL 2.0. One number of server and one number of clients are working in the SOUL 2.0 environment. Beside that library subscribed to N List which is provided by INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad from where thousands of online books and journals can be accessed. The library has also developed its digital library cum Institutional Repository with Open Source Software “DSpace”.The library has opted institutional membership of National Digital Library of India (NDLI). Users can access the e-resources from their own system i.e., Laptop Mobile phone through college LAN and WiFi Networking system.
