Patidarrang College was established on 31st August, 1989 and got affiliation under Gauhati University. The Department of History launched its journey in 1992 as a General Subject. Honours Course started in the academic Session 2011-2012 to impart quality education. Our Department always encourages students to Participate actively in Co-curricular and extensive activities organized by extension cell and NSS of the college to make them ideal and responsible citizen of society .We try our best to impress our students and make their think about the importance of studying History. It is unique subject which enables us to learn and gather knowledge about our daily life.

The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching and extensive studies.

Mission

1. To create awareness about historical aspects and make them responsible citizen.
2. To create interest to opt for History as a Honours subject in higher education.
3. To make the students about our cultural identity having gone through the subjects.
4. To increase interest among the students for regional History.

MAJOR THRUST AREA OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Assam History, Indian History, Tourism in N. E. India & World History.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide Knowledge to the student about regional Society, culture, religion etc.
2. To encourage the students to earn and gather knowledge from locally found resources.
3. To develop intellectual curiosity so that the students can shine in achieving goals in competitive examinations.
